Since 2005 I have received students from Université Paul Sabatier of Toulouse and University Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI, France, for their M1 or M2 internship.
The Erasmus agreement between UPS and UC supports partially the expenses of these students. If you are interested by one of the open subjects proposed for Master students you can contact me sending your academic curriculum and motivation letter. Students from other universities should check with their local officers if there is an Erasmus Agreement with the University of Coimbra.
Students from the University of Coimbra that wish to develop their Master Thesis in the Robotics field in University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse or University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris may also contact me.
Graduate Students that wish to apply for, or are starting a PhD course, and are considering to develop their theses under my supervision can contact me in my office or lab or by sending an e-mail.
If it is your case I thank you for your interest.
Learn about what we do, namely recent activities and projects and check if you really want to work on one of the related fields and understand the challenges. (Read some recent papers.)
I always prefer know the students prior to accept them. A PhD is a "long" term commitment, so I like to know if we match in terms of technical background, motivation, personality, etc.. It is a good idea to take at least one of my courses.
No direct funding: Unless you are admitted to work under some research project, you should apply for a scholarship for the "Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia" or some other institution on your own. Naturally I will support your application if we have agreed on that.
If you have interest in one of the open subjects that I am proposing for Master Thesis, please contact me.
Prior to that you should understand that:
- You should develop your work in a continuous way and I will not accept people that work only during the last month.
- You must demonstrate the evolution of your work every one or two weeks.
- You must work on the lab and integrated on the team and not alone at home (not somewhere else)
- You are close to be a professional so you must behave as one.
- I accept students on a First Come First Served basis and take into account the student obtained grades. So if you come too late, probably the subject is already taken.
If you are still convinced about doing your work under my supervision check on this site (http://orion.isr.uc.pt ) if there are still open subjects.
