Paulo Menezes has a Ph.D on Electrical and Computer Engineering - Specialty in Informatics from the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

 He is a faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (www.deec.uc.pt) of the University of Coimbra, where he lectures courses on Computer Architecture, Computer Graphics and Augmented Reality, and Interactive Systems and Robotics, and he is also and associate researcher of the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR) (www.isr.uc.pt). 

His expertise is in the areas of  Affective Interaction, Immersive Systems, and Human-Robot Interaction with contributions since 2000. He has been involved as expert and Principal Investigator in several research national international projects, and coordinates a research laboratory on Immersive Systems and Sensory Stimulation (IS3L). 

He maintains collaborations with researchers from several international academic and research institutions.

He is Chair of IEEE-RAS - Portuguese Chapter.

He is subdirector of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Coimbra.
